Getting Married at St. Michael’s
Congratulations on your engagement!
We hope that, as you prepare for your wedding at St. Michael’s, you will be able to lay the foundations for a lifetime of happy marriage. We are delighted to be part of that.
From the Church’s point of view, there are few things we will want to go through with you and that we hope you will find helpful:
- To get married here at least one of you must have one of the qualifying connections to St. Michael’s. These include being resident in the parish, being on the electoral roll here, or attending church here regularly for at least six months. You can view the full list at:https://www.yourchurchwedding.org/article/finding-a-church/
- We will put some time aside to do some marriage preparation with you, possibly with one or more other couples also preparing for marriage.
- ou will usually need to have your banns read both at St. Michael’s and at your parish church(es) if relevant – we will explain all this to you!
- We can put you in touch with our Director of Music, bell ringers and possibly flower arrangers, depending on your requirements.
Before we confirm the date with you we will ask you to fill in a form and have a short chat with the Rector – nothing to worry about!
Above all, however, as you are planning to be married in Church, we would like to explore the depth of God’s love for you, and look at how your relationship can be strengthened by that love, and come to reflect it.
We look forward to being with you through this exciting time…
