Climate Change

God of life, we praise you for the beauty of creation, its richness and variety;
yet, through greed and ignorance, we scar your world with plastic waste and throw so much away. Make us more like Jesus, treading gently on our common home, and breathe your Spirit on us, that we may care more deeply for your Earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Iran

As we watch the pain, sorrow and violence spreading across Iran right now, we thank you that you are the God of all comfort.

We grieve for those hurting. We lift up especially the family of Zhina Mahsa Amini, and the loved ones of those who have died or been injured in the protests. Please, show them your comfort. You alone can ease this pain.

Many protestors have been arrested and their families do not know where they are. Many people are afraid to leave their homes amid the unrest. Many people are so hurt and angry they are consumed by it. Please, reveal your comfort to them. Comfort my country, Lord.

Pakistan

Creator God, we pray for justice and fairness for those worst hit by climate change. We know that people living in extreme poverty around the world are worst hit by the climate crisis, but have done the least to contribute to it. They also have the fewest resources to implement change. We particularly think at the time of the devastating floods in Pakistan, the high death toll and the unimaginable displacements of vulnerable people.
Amen

Ukraine

God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.

Afghanistan - 5 ways to pray

  • It has been a year since the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan. To this day, Christian minorities live in deep fear and face violent persecution if they are found. Please pray for the safety and protection of believers from being discovered

  • Please pray for the parents of young girls, who want to send their daughters to school to receive an education, but face government restrictions. Pray for a change of heart for the Taliban government to see girls and women as equal contributors to the economy and society

  • Drug addiction has been rampant in Afghanistan for many years, and it has become much worse after the Taliban government has taken over the country. Pray for healing and restoration for many who are under the clutches of drug abuse

  • Please pray for the religious minorities, especially secret believers who live in fear of being discovered. May the Lord be close to them, provide for their needs with food, medicine and timely help, and protect them from harm

  • Many people are forcibly evicted from their homes in various provinces if they are perceived to support the former government. Please pray for the families who have to leave everything behind as they flee to safety
