SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE ENVIRONMENT

We want to make a difference for Jesus in the world and be good stewards of what we have been given to look after. We want to run our building efficiently and effectively as part of our witness.

Social Justice: We are concerned about homelessness and in caring for the marginalised by continuing with Lunchbox and Sunday lunches hosted in our crypt. We want to continue with our collaboration with Genesis and the work that they do particularly as they develop their new site in Walcot Street. We want to encourage and offer the church to be used for social justice and environmental events by other organisations. We want to explore how we could help and support families on low income, those needing debt advice and network with other churches/organisations to help with that end. In services we want to receive teaching on social justice. Do we have the desire and can we be a Fair-trade Church?

Sustainable living: We want to encourage recycling, support local initiatives of improving the environment particularly in and around our building on Walcot Street. We want to undertake a sustainability audit of the church building and develop an action plan from it. How can we participate in Britain in Bloom to enhance the outside of our buildings and what resources would we need to do that?
