POWER OF THE SPIRIT AND PRAYER

Prayer is central in all that we do.  Following Jesus is a relationship and He taught us to pray to our Father. We want to continue to be active in prayer and encourage others to pray.  We want to be a place at the heart of the City, where people can come to pray and pray for others, whether that be in  formal services or at other open times. We are open to the gifts of the Spirit and long to see those gifts active in the life of a growing church. We want to be open to learn more:

A Praying Church: We want to encourage people to pray and in our services be creative and imaginative in prayer. Reinforcing the regular pattern of prayer in church on most mornings, we also want to encourage people to establish a personal rhythm of prayer, and to that end, with teaching, provide creative ideas and prayer aids to help.

Marking important occasions in national life and responding to tragedy when people express the need to pray, we want to encourage special prayer events and prayer installations. For this to happen the church building needs to be open and for there to be people who enable them to happen. Retaining the Chapel as a quiet place for prayer is important and marks another objective in maintaining the building well. Connect Groups are important places for prayer and study, as well an encouraging chains of prayer. Prayer ministry will be regularly offered and a prayer ministry team regularly receiving training to be able to offer that.

Learning: We want to receive teaching on gifts of the Spirit, encourage people to use their gifts, expect the spirit to move, pray for healing and learn more about healing ministry, learn from each other about prayer walking and encourage a proactive leadership based on the Spirit. To equip and sponsor teaching we have got some resources, but will need more if we want to invite particular people to help lead and teach us.
