CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

We want to encourage our families who have younger children. We want to welcome new families with children to join the church, and to encourage the   development of our youth work.

Childrens & Family Worker: We already have the desire to employ a children's worker but recruiting someone has not been easy. We need to continue to search but recognise we might need to increase our budget to more than we currently have. We want to grow the work amongst children and their families, and will explore how we can connect to those children and youth who are heavilY involved in sport and the arts which often takes place on Sunday mornings. Do we currently have enough practical  resources to support the work? We want and need to identify and encourage church members to serve and help with this work.

Church Services: We want to explore creative approaches to services to help engage with children of all ages. This might be Messy Church in its own right, but also looking to improve All Age Services, experiment and trial afternoon/evening services, helping make better connections to those involved in sport and the arts. We want to encourage young peoples involvement in services and to be able to hear the voice of our youth to help shape what we do. There is a desire to learn and teach new children’s songs with actions and        include them in worship.

Activities & Events: The Baby Cafe is going from strength to strength in the week and we have a desire to reach out to the many single parent families in Kingsmead. How can we expand this work? We want to encourage more activities and events that encourage families to get together on occasions when invitations can be given to new families. These might include Holiday Clubs, Family Picnics, BBQ’s on the Farm and church family walks.
